Tile
Tile can be categorized as ceramic, porcelain, or natural stone. Ceramic and Porcelain Tile are both made from a clay base. They are then fired in an oven to harden them. Generally porcelain is harder than ceramic and the color goes through the body of the tile. Ceramic tile has a red base to it and has a glaze over the top to give it a unique look. Both Ceramic and Porcelain tile are low maintenance flooring items.
Natural stone is generally requires more labor to install it and needs more maintenance than ceramic and porcelain. When installing natural stone it must be sealed before installation and then again after installation. It should also be sealed once a year to preserve its natural beauty. Natural Stone can come in granite, marble, travertine, slate, and many more. |
