Advantages of Laminate Flooring

Our Selections Bring you Beauty From the World Over

Imagine adding the character of Distressed Heart Pine, an Antique Barn Oak, or the elegance of slate, stone or travertine to your home. With our latest proprietary process, NatureForm Optix™, we've combined the beauty of nature with the latest advances in printing, texturing and finishing, creating unparalleled realism and the most realistic laminate flooring ever.

Natural beauty.

We used our expertise at making hardwood floors to create laminates in the wood styles and tones people prefer most. We even went a step further by pioneering a proprietary process of printing, texturing and finishing that captures original source materials like natural stone and wood with exceptional crispness and depth of color, found in both our Revolutions™ Tile and Plank collections.

Unbeatable durability.

Typical high-pressure laminate floors use glue to hold the plastic laminate to the core - glue that can sometimes come unstuck. But our ThermoComposite™ technology lets us replace the glue with thermal-set plastic resins that are forced through three surface layers and deep into the fibers of our EcoCore®. No peeling here! This EcoCore®, made from recycled wood materials, is a super-strong, high-density fiberboard that withstands denting-even from the heaviest piano.

Wear and stain resistance.

Our melamine surface gets its incredible durability from aluminum oxide. Second only to diamonds in hardness, aluminum oxide provides unsurpassed wear and stain resistance. Many of our patterns also feature a built-in finish that improves your floor's resistance to every-day wear-n-tear and helps make clean-up a snap.

Little maintenance.

No floor comes closer to true maintenance-free performance. Ordinary vacuuming or sweeping is usually all it takes, with occasional wiping with Mannington Award Series® Cleaner.

Oops-proof performance.

Spills happen, but laminate floors take them in stride. Juice, wine, grease, and chocolate are easily wiped away. Cigarette burns, asphalt, shoe polish, paint, ink, crayon, and nail polish come clean with alcohol or nail polish remover. Candle wax and chewing gum can be gently scraped away.

Easy installation.

Our laminate flooring is designed to be laid as a "floating floor" above your existing floor (except carpeting, of course) without nails or glue. The only glue ever used is between the planks in the joints, which fit tightly together with a precise tongue and groove design. Mannington Hush™, AquaBarrier™ and ComfortBarrier® underlayments are very easy to install and keep out moisture rising from the subfloor, provide padding for walking comfort, add heat insulation, and dampen noise. And, we offer a complete package of trims and moldings manufactured to match and enhance the appearance of your floor.

Construction of Laminate

ThermoComposite™ Construction

ThermoComposite™ laminate construction fuses five distinct components together in one single step to create an extremely durable floor of the highest quality. The process is a true art that requires years of experience; it is not just science.

Mannington Laminate Construction

1. Melamine Wearsurface with Aluminum Oxide

Second only to diamonds in hardness, aluminum oxide provides unsurpassed wear and stain resistance. Backed by a 25-Year Residential Wear and Stain Warranty. Exclusive to Mannington Laminate floors is a durable stain and soil repellant that keeps your floors looking new longer and helps make clean-up a snap.

2. Design Surface

Advanced technology locks color deep inside the image fiber layer to create vivid patterns and hues. Backed by a 25-Year Residential Fade Resistant Warranty.

3. MLock®

Unique profile system, available on many of our products, offers outstanding strength and easy, glueless installation. A proprietary sealant using a high tech application process gives the product excellent moisture resistance.

4. High Density Fiberboard

A super strong, high-density board made from recycled wood chip material that withstands indentations, even from the heaviest piano.

5. I-Beam Backing®

A melamine-impregnated I-Beam Backing® balances the construction and controls warping.

6. AquaEdges™

Tongue and groove surfaces are impregnated with a moisture sealant to protect against moisture penetration between the planks.

Care and Maintenance for Laminate

Laminate Care

You can protect your Mannington Laminate Floor by following these easy guidelines.
  • Place rugs or floor mats on heavy traffic areas to avoid excess wear and tear.
  • Place doormats on both sides of outside entrances.

Laminate Maintenance

Mannington Laminate Floors come as close as possible to being maintenance free and are extremely resistant to wear and stains. Here's how to keep yours looking like new.
  • Important: Never wax, polish, sand, or lacquer your Mannington Laminate Floor.
  • Spot clean your floor as needed and completely clean several times a year with Mannington Award Series® Cleaner.
  • Occasionally vacuum or sweep to eliminate loose dust and debris.
  • Wipe soiled spots with a cloth dampened with clean water or Mannington Award Series® Cleaner diluted in water. Make sure the cloth is thoroughly wrung out. Never flood the floor with water or cleaner.
  • After damp cleaning, dry the floor thoroughly with a clean cloth.
  • Remove tough, stubborn stains such as paint, adhesive, asphalt, oil, etc. with alcohol, acetone, or nail polish remover.
  • Never wax, polish, or use soap. Doing so may damage the wear surface, causing it to be slippery or to have unattractive smudges.
  • Never use a steam cleaner.
  • Never use scouring powder products, steel wool, or abrasives.
  • Do not treat or seal Mannington Laminate Floors after they have been installed.

Laminate Stain Solver

Take a look at how easily even tough stains can be removed from our floors:
  • Start with the first procedure listed.
  • Only do the procedures necessary to resolve the problem. Always use a clean white cloth for wiping up stains, and turn it frequently to avoid spreading the stain.
  • Rinse with clean water and allow area to dry between procedures.
  • For items not covered by the following chart, call Mannington Consumer Services at 1-800-FLOOR-US (1-800-356-6787).
